Chitosan is a biocompatible, biodegradable, nontoxic polymeric material widely used for drug delivery. It can load both hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs based on the method used in the preparation. In our research, we have modified the chitosan by the process of chemical reaction to form a targeted drug delivery system. I have developed various graft polymers based on chitosan (eg, CS-g-TPGS, CS-g-estrone) with improved physicochemical properties and targeting capabilities.
On the left side, images demonstrate the morphological features of the chitosan NPs loaded with palbociclib for breast cancer therapy.
The SEM images demonstrated that DTX-CS NPs exhibited strong bioadhesion to the negatively charged surface of SK-BR-3 human breast cancer cells, unlike the PBS-treated control, which showed no significant morphological changes or nanoparticle attachment after 30 minutes of exposure.
